Talk summary

Two-thirds of the world’s population is expected to live in urban areas by 2050, according to United Nations estimates. The urban population of India and China are expected to surpass 1 billion as early as 2025. According to G20’s Global Infrastructure update, Asian countries have a total infrastructure need of $51 trillion, during the period 2018-2040. Yet often overlooked is as new infrastructure is built and smart sensors are deployed, who will inhabit them? Who will make use of these data? Who will build thriving businesses? Community and ecosystem leaders from across the region may have the answer to bridge this gap and will be sharing their experiences as a critical, yet often overlooked part of a thriving smart city.
