I am Lecturer at the University of Melbourne in the Department of Computing and Information Systems. My research interests include Cybersecurity and Digital Privacy, and the impact of technology on whistleblowing among other topics.
I am also the founder and executive director of an international NGO that supports freedom of expression called Blueprint for Free Speech. The original idea for Blueprint came from the free software movement.
Prior to earning my PhD and starting up Blueprint, I worked as a staff journalist on a major daily newspaper, and then as feature writer and associate editor on a technology magazine.
My long term goals are to:
• developing infrastructures to keep democracies healthy, such as whistleblowing systems in order to raise ethical standards in society, and, related to this, security and privacy research
• creating scalable blueprints for protecting and expanding freedom of expression
