Don has acted for major corporations in the Supreme Court of Victoria, the Federal Court of Australia, various Australian Competition Tribunal cases and in other commercial disputes, including for Envestra, Infratil, United Energy, Multinet Gas, Santos, Lumo Energy, Bass Oil, Australian Gas Networks, ATCO, and 7-Eleven.
Don acted in the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission. Subsequently, Don was counsel for SP AusNet in the largest class action in Australian corporate history relating to the Kilmore fire, in the Supreme Court of Victoria. He was also counsel for SP AusNet in the Beechworth fire class action.
Don has acted for 7-Eleven in petrol pricing regulatory matters, including a proceeding in the Federal Court of Australia instituted by the ACCC against petrol retailers.
Don has also acted for investors in the Timbercorp litigation in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
As a Non-Execitive Director of Wallara Australia, a major disability organisation, Don has expertise in disability services.
Prior to coming to the Bar Don was a Chartered Accountant, a Solicitor at Freehill Holingdale & Page, and Chief Financial Officer at Comalco Smelting.
Don regularly advises on complex loss and damage issues and is expert in financial and accounting matters.
